Supporting Waitrose Trial with FareShare

Dovecote Park are proud to be joining Waitrose & Partners in their new trial with the food charity FareShare, that launched at the start of this week.

As part of the next phase of the Waitrose 'Give a Little Love' campaign, this initiative aims to provide over one million meals for vulnerable households struggling to put food on the table through lockdown.  Dovecote Park have committed to provide almost 22 tonnes of British Beef before the end of June.

FareShare have long been pioneers of projects to ensure good food doesn't go to waste, and is instead redistributed to frontline charities.  Lindsay Boswell, CEO of FareShare comments "Working with Waitrose farms and suppliers offers FareShare a fantastic opportunity to access food that would otherwise end up going to waste, and is a significant moment in our battle against food waste and hunger in the UK".  These comments have been echoed by James Bailey, Executive Director of Waitrose: "we believe there is now a real opportunity for the industry to stand united and help tackle food poverty right from the farm.  We must do everything in our power to divert any edible food we can to families that need it during this pandemic".
